He’s smart. He’s lovable. He’s Dexter Morgan, America’s favorite serial killer, who spends his days solving crimes and his nights committing them. During season 8, Angel Batista was not always played by David Zayas. His son David Zayas Jr. fills in for his father in a few scenes, as the two look remarkably alike. Visible throughout the first season, Dexter has a large scar on his left side. Later in season 2, the scar moved to his right side, leaving his left side unmarked. Dexter Morgan: I lived in the darkness for a long time. Over the years, my eyes adjusted, until the darkness became my world and I could see. Performed at the 64th Golden Globe Awards (2007). Main Theme Written by Rolfe Kent Acted by Rolfe Kent. I read Lindsay’s excellent books—Darkly Dreaming Dexter and Dearly Devoted Dexter—a while back, and when I heard there was going to be a series based on the books, I was incredibly excited. So much so that I was afraid I’d be disappointed simply because my standards were too high. Fortunately, “Dexter” delivers on that. The show maintains the unsettling atmosphere of the novels more faithfully than one might expect, and Dexter (played by Hall) is there. The visuals in the show are stunning, to say the least. Unsettling, certainly, but more than that—riveting. Watching the show, it’s impossible not to find a certain connection to Dexter. He’s a monster, and yet he’s completely relatable. 10 out of 10. This one has a permanent spot on my DVR.
