All designed to keep your work moving, wherever you are. While we’ve seen a focus on fine-tuning Office across platforms over the past year, make no mistake, Office for Windows desktops is central to our strategy. Microsoft Word 2019 includes apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

Customers using earlier versions of Office may need to download and install the compatibility pack. New in Microsoft Word 2019: Your documents anywhere—Office 2019 apps make it easier to take advantage of the rich capabilities of the apps to create, open, edit, and save files to the cloud from your desktop, so you can access them from anywhere, on any device. Plus, new, modern attachments in Outlook make it easier to attach files from OneDrive and automatically set permissions for recipients—without having to leave Outlook. All of this makes it easier to share and collaborate on your work with others. Collaboration—Real-time coauthoring is now available in Office Online, and we’re bringing it to the Windows desktop apps, starting with Word.

When you and your team work in Word 2019 and/or Office online, you’ll be able to see where other editors are working and what they’re writing—all in real time. Intelligent apps—Apps learn as you work, with subtle hints and cues that help you stay on task and get more out of Office. Tell Me, a new search tool in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, gives you the commands you need by simply typing what you want to do. Clutter, a new Exchange feature coming to Outlook, uses machine learning to analyze email patterns and declutter your inbox, moving lower-priority messages to a new Clutter folder. Faster, easier data analysis—New analysis capabilities are built into Excel so you can ingest, map, analyze, and visualize data faster and easier than ever before.
